Looking for Psychic Ability in a Chart

Question: I was pondering what type of indications in a chart would indicate psychic ability in a person's chart. I've studied psychics that I've met personally, as well as media psychics and find that: connections between 2nd and 8th houses show up strongly in the charts. I was wondering if you had studied psychics and discovered any stereo-typical aspects in charts.
Ron: In looking at numerous charts on psychics, here's what I find produces such an ability. They must have one of the following:
1) strong Venus, OR
2) well placed Ketu associated with the 4th house, OR
3) spiritual influences upon the 8th
In addition to one of the above, the person must have a fairly strong Mercury to increase objectivity and minimize projecting subjective opinions/ beliefs/ fantasies.
The inherent problem in this configuration is that people with fairly strong Mercurys are often swayed against psychic phenomena and don't venture into it. As a consequence, most "psychics" often have a weak Mercury and confuse true psychic impressions with their own vivid imagination, which makes most of them highly unreliable. That would be my opinion.
Question: What if Venus is malefic, but strong?
Ron: Malefic Venus, if strong and not afflicting, would be an acceptable configuration.
Question: What if Mercury is combust in the 12th? Can it be strong nevertheless, or does the Sun take its significance?
Ron: Mercury or Venus combust, as long as it is within the 5 degree orb, would still be OK - as long as both the Sun and the combust planet(s) are benefic. Still, under such a scenario, it would be best for the psychic to not engage in readings while transit malefics are affecting the combust planet.
Question: Does a strong Sun give objectivity ? Fantasies/fertile imagination
suggests a weak Moon .......???
Ron: I would not relate the Sun necessarily with strong objectivity. However, if, for example a person has his/her Mercury in Leo, it gives great expansiveness to the confidence and objectivity. I'm trying to be objective here myself, since I also have Mercury in Leo ;-). The downside of this, I have found from observation of my own behavior, is that this configuration can give penetrating analysis and objectivity, but it can make the person hyper-critical as they feel they need to analyze EVERYTHING. I believe you are right with respect to a weak Moon being contributory toward fantasies, however.
Question: Ron, what is the significance of the 4th house here? Is it the learning/education, mental peace or inner matters factor?
Ron: Regarding the 4th house connection, you are right on your assumptions as to why I include that house as part of a valid configuration for such abilities.
Question: I seem to have missed the boat on Venus ruling functional spirituality. I thought Venus had to do with wordly matters and material pursuits!
Ron: With an Aquarius rising chart, for example, Venus rules spirituality because of its ownership of the 9th house. So, Venus rules psychic ability in everyone's chart, but specifically rules spirituality for Aquarius rising due to house ownership.
Question: I noticed that you stated: "So, Venus rules psychic ability in everyone's chart,..." I have not seen this assignment to Venus before. It got me thinking and I wondered whether this might be because Venus is exalted in Pisces, a water sign and natural 12th house, ruled by Jupiter (non-MT). I am curious as to whether this line of thinking was behind your statement.
Ron: That wasn't specifically in my line of thinking, but I can't say it isn't applicable either. I don't know - never thought of it like that. Basically, here's the reasons that I would associate Venus
with psychic ability:
1) Mythologically, Venus is the mediator between the gods and demons. While I am sure everyone has their own ideas as to what this means, here's one of the meanings for me, admittedly skewed by
my Zen Buddhist belief system, which ignores gods and demons. In light of that, the "gods" represent the higher self, our true nature, the Buddha Mind; the demons represent the inexhaustible desires, thoughts, emotions, and sensations that keep us from our birth right of Annutara-samyak-sambodhi. Since it is Venus that bridges this gap, and helps lead the individual back to the source, it is on this bridge that many of the siddhis are found, and which we are encouraged to ignore or put at peril our liberation. In other words, Venus rules sensual pleasures, and siddhis, for those in search of enlightenment, consider entertaining siddhis to be a misguided pursuit of sensual pleasures that have merely disguised themselves as spiritual attainments.
2) Venus represents the middle of the Zodiac where there seeks to be a harmonization of forces.
3) Venus is the feminine sexual force in the kundalini anatomy. Being associated with the feminine side, it is aligned with Ida, which is associated with psychic manifestations.
Question: Additionally, your response stated that because Venus is also 9th lord for Aquarius ASC. then the psychic ability would pertain to the spiritual. This implies that there may be more classifications of psychic ability for Venus you have in mind. Have I got this concept wrong or am I reading too much into this? Just curious.
Ron: No, I didn't have anything further in mind. It is just a fact that the 9th house rules spirituality. So, for Aquarius rising, Venus just happens to represent spiritual matters for them.
