Using the Grimes' USA Chart ( Part 1)
One of the claims I have often made about this chart is that it not only is useful in making highly accurate predictions about events occurring within the United States, but it can also be used as a "world chart."
To some this seems like a bold claim that assumes too much. So, let me explain my reasoning, and show you how my claims are correct.
First, my assertion is based on the world prominent role that the United States plays.
Second, due the the world prominent role, events occurring in other parts of the world often directly or indirectly affect the United States. That involvement comes in the form of everything from relief aid, negotiations, market swings, disease, war, athletic events, joint ventures in space science, intercontinental communications, the Internet, etc. The list is virtually endless.
Third, each nation has a birth chart of its own, and their rising sign is represented in the Grimes' USA chart.
Case In Point - Israel and the United States:
Israel's rising sign is Capricorn 21d 15'. See Israel's chart here.
Seeing Israel in the USA Natal Chart:
Notice that Capricorn falls within the 7th house of the Grimes' USA chart. The 7th house is typically used to represent both marital and long-term relationships. Further, we see that the rising degree between the charts of the USA and Israel are within 4' of each other, creating an even tighter bond that is virtually unbreakable.
What then can we learn about Israel by merely looking at the USA Chart?
First, we notice that the ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, is closely conjunct with militaristic Mars within the deep and violent sign of Scorpio. We also see that Saturn is 8th lord (lord of death-like situations). Further, this conjunction takes place in the 5th house, which governs emotions. It is not a stretch then to assess this as follows:
So far, I have mainly focused on Saturn's malefic affliction upon Mars, and how that impacts life within Israel. However, Mars, in this chart, is beneficial to Saturn, and that benefit comes in the form of military assistance from the United States. But, Israel also has a strong military because of this assistance, and so both become beneficial to the survival of Israel as a nation.
Next, we see that Saturn closely aspects Venus within the sign of Capricorn. This is a unilateral malefic configuration, which can be interpreted as follows:
Hopefully, you can see how these configurations nicely summarize the basic relationship of the United States and Israel, as well as the situation that exists to tie the two nations together.
Seeing Israel in the USA Transit Chart:We have now identified which natal planets, houses, and signs speak of situations involving Israel, and we can therefore watch transits against these points to predict the ebb and flow of events. Let's show an example:
Six Day War (June 5-10th 1967) - This had been building up for quite some time, but started reaching critical proportions as Arab troops began amassing on the Israeli border, the strait of Tiran had been blockaded, and it was obvious that an attack was imminent.

It is not a stretch then to assess this as follows:
- "There will be chronic violence, arising from deep rooted emotions, that will primarily affect Israel's children, young men, the police and soldiers."
- The "chronic violence" comes from the self-perpetuating energies of Saturn (ruling death-like situations) and Mars (ruling violence and aggression) being permanently conjoined in the natal chart.
- The "arising from deep rooted emotions" is due to the conjunction taking place in Scorpio (ruling that which is deep) in the 5th house (governing emotions).
- The "affect Israel's children, young men, the police and soldiers" comes from the fact that the Saturn (lord of death) is afflicting Mars (significator of young men, police, and military) within the 5th house (ruling children).
So far, I have mainly focused on Saturn's malefic affliction upon Mars, and how that impacts life within Israel. However, Mars, in this chart, is beneficial to Saturn, and that benefit comes in the form of military assistance from the United States. Next, we see that Saturn closely aspects Venus within the sign of Capricorn. This is a unilateral malefic configuration, which can be interpreted as follows:
- "The mental and domestic peace of both the United States and Israel will be thwarted as any plans for diplomacy will be met with violence and death."
- The "mental and domestic peace" comes from the fact that it is Venus that is affected here, and Venus functionally rules the USA's 4th house issues of mental and domestic peace.
- The "of both the United States and Israel" comes from the fact that not only is Venus the 4th house lord of the United States, but it is afflicted in the sign of Capricorn (Israel's rising sign) and therefore both nations are impacted.
- The "will be thwarted" and "met with violence and death" derives from the afflicting aspect by Saturn to Venus.
- The "any plans for diplomacy" is represented by Venus' natural role of peace maker, negotiator, diplomat.
Hopefully, you can see how these configurations nicely summarize the basic relationship of the United States and Israel, as well as the situation that exists to tie the two nations together.

Transit (June 5th 1967)
Transit-outer, Natal-inner
Vedic, Equal House, Lahiri
It is my opinion that the key indicators of such tensions were the transit positions of Uranus and Pluto, which placed them square natal Saturn and Mars, respectively.
Because the interpretations are so strongly supportive of my position here, I will quote from the interpretive engine found in Goravani Jyotish:
"Transit Uranus Square Saturn:Challenging events, period of testing discipline and duty, disruption and such things may force you to revise your ideas. Restrictions may become unbearable and a desire to break free at all costs it violates all standards of behavior. Your actions will surprise others. In profession, difficulty to deal with your superior, if tension is too much, you may change job but make such change after careful thinking. As the conflict builds up between your desire to break free and the normal desire for order in your life, the physical question may become quite intense. it is very important that you be able to communicate with some one in order to help release the tension damaging to your body health."
"Transit Pluto Square Mars:A dangerous transit unless handled properly. It should be used in and for constructive ways. It arouses your ambitions to go ahead at any cost. Be careful not to work so hard that you become physically exhausted, exposing yourself to illness and physical breakdown; never over-do it. You will work for success, power, fame etc without paying any attention to people who disagree with you or oppose you, therefore loss through opposing force is indicated. You may face a fight; do not do it alone. Better to avoid. Accidents can occur during this transit, so avoid risks and opposition to enemies."
Again, I have chosen to quote another's interpretation, instead of giving my own, simply because the transit speaks so loudly to the situation than any interpretation I give might be seen as self-serving to prove my point. So, it is better, inasmuch as possible, to let an objective, unbiased voice say it for me.
Keep in mind that the interpretations cited were written to address an individual chart (that of a person). So, it's not hard to see how, when slightly modified to address a national chart, it applies extraordinarily well to the Six Day War.
Summary:
By now, it might be obvious to some that the Grimes' USA Chart can indeed be used as a world chart. The importance of this fact is that it means mundane astrologers now have a reliable chart from which to make predictions, which can only serve to elevate the field of astrology, when used by competent astrologers.
However, with this realization, it introduces a new level of complexity. The astute astrologer will already be asking, "How do I know when a transit will affect the United States directly and when it will instead impact another nation primarily?"
