Andrew Lynn's Analysis of Rick's Illness Thru KP Astrology
The following is an old article from January 8, 2001, written just shortly before Rick's passing, by an excellent vedic astrologer named Andrew Lynn whose specialty is KP Astrology. He used the KP ayanamsha in order to analyze Rick's chart and compares Rick's natal chart to his own. I will illustrate the article by showing Rick's natal chart as shown thru the KP ayanamsha in order to follow this article easier.
The following is an article about the plight of Richard Houck dying of cancer.
He was born 13th April 1947 at 00.51am Des Moines, Iowa. USA.
This is the horoscope of Richard Houck who is a leading astrologer and author of a number of popular books. He is dying of rectal cancer and I'm sure he would agree it is important to look at his horoscope and try to determine why he has suffered this fate. I would insist on fellow astrologers doing the same if I was to go or fall ill.
Firstly, I have enjoyed a number of private chats with Richard about various things regarding astrology. He once said my ideas about interpreting horoscopes in a realistic manner were so close to his, we would always agree in principal
on the basics. This is shown because his Venus falls within 1 degree from my ascendant and his Moon is trine to my Moon in my 11th house of friends and associates. His Mars falls in the same sign as my Venus and my Mars falls in the same sign as his Venus. We share the same Sun sign. His Jupiter is trine my Sun and his navamsha lagna falls in my Moon sign. We both also have the association of Mars and Mercury so we both call a spade a spade.
These are just some of the good aspects that show we would have been great friends had we lived closer together. I have looked at his chart and wanted to post a few things about it that may be of interest to those studying astrology and wishing to understand some of the more deeper aspects of chart analysis.
I want in particular to discuss his current problem as most astrologers can already see some of the excellent aspects that make him a great astrologer. However there is also a very strong influence of 8th house influences in this horoscope.
The sign Scorpio and the 8th house of the zodiac relate directly to the rectum, chronic disease and in particular rectal cancer. He was born with Saturn in his 8th house. Saturn is a slow moving planet and karaka of chronic and wasting diseases like cancer. It relates directly to the rectum, anus and the accumulation of wastes in the body. Saturn is not only in the 8th house, it falls dead on 09.00 degrees according to the Krishnamurti ayanamsha. This is said to be the Mrityu Bhaga or death inflicting station for Saturn in this sign. The dispositor of Saturn the Moon, falls in the lagna. He was also born on ashtami day or the 8th day after the full Moon at night time.
One of the golden rules of longevity is that the 8th lord should not be stronger than the lagna lord. In Richard's case, the lagna lord Jupiter is in the 12th house in exchange with ava yogi planet Mars who is also lord of the malefic 22nd drekkana; it is in the 8th sign of the zodiac and in association with the moksha karaka Ketu. Ketu also falls in the nakshatra of Saturn. The lagna lord is retrograde in the sign of the natural 8th lord Mars, who is also in the nakshatra of Saturn.
There is a grand trine aspect between Jupiter in Scorpio, Mars, Sun and Mercury in Pisces and Saturn in Cancer. All water signs and moksha houses, so his interest in life and death matters is clear. He wrote a book called "The Astrology of Death" and his ascendant lord is in the sign of death in the 12th house of the afterlife with the karaka for enlightenment. I have not yet read this book but should perhaps get a copy as his horoscope would indicate knowledge of all these things.
In the navamsha chart lagna lord Sun is in the 8th house afflicted by Saturn and Mars. The Moon is neecha in Scorpio afflicted by Saturn. In the rashi chart the lagna lord falls in a sarpa drekkana as does the Sun. The lagna lord also falls in the 22nd drekkana and Mars as the lord of the 22nd drekkana is now close to transiting the lagna lord in bad aspect to Saturn. Saturn is also lord of the 64th navamsha which makes it even more malefic.
He is running the dasha of Jupiter/Moon and the Moon is the 8th lord of death in the lagna and also the dispositor of his malefic Saturn. His Jupiter falls on the degree of the 8th lord Moon's neecha position. The Moon is in a maraka house from Jupiter in the 2nd house. On the 6th of February, Richard will start Jupiter/Moon/Saturn. Saturn is in the 8th house from the Moon.
His Sun as Atmakaraka and indicator of the soul, falls in the 12th sign of the zodiac in the 4th house of the heart almost right on his yoga point. His natal Sun is at the last degree of the zodiac and his lagna lord is in the 12th house with Ketu. In his navamsha, the Sun is vargottama and Jupiter in the 12th house is exalted.
Some say that the navamsha indicates the next life, some say the inner nature. Richard's navamsha is of an enlightened man with his lagna lord Sun in the 12th sign in the 8th house of transformation in trine to Moon in the 4th house and exalted Jupiter in the 12th house. This grand trine aspect falls in moksha signs and houses. Saturn aspects the Sun and Moon showing renunciation. When he is born again, he will be an even greater man.
