Insights on How to read a Chart

I like to simply look at a person's chart, without making any judgments about it, until the chart is engraved in my mind. Once I know the layout of the chart, I put it down and forget about it. The chart will re-surface into my mind of its own accord - along with some insights about it. Sometimes a lot flows to me; sometimes a little. But, I don't try to squeeze more out of the moment than is given to me. I just let it go after the insight is given. Later, the chart will re-surface with more insights. There comes a point when there is a knowing that this is all that is meant to be conveyed about this chart at this moment in time. Sometimes, these insights come immediately; other times, these insights do not come for days. Sometimes, these insights do not come at all.
This may also work for others, but it is presumed that one has already mastered the basics of astrology and has gained some clarity about it.
In my opinion, an astrologer must continually empty himself as pure insight cannot flow into an already full vessel. Equally true, in my opinion, pure insight only remains as pure as the astrological understanding with which it mixes inside the human vessel.
I state this latter point - not to imply that I think I am some pure vessel of astrology - because I am not. But, neither do I want to convey to any new-age types that one can forego the hard work of gaining clarity about astrology and hope that somehow they can still deliver good astrology readings by simply "opening up to these insights." It just doesn't work that way. In my opinion, that is not possible if one has not labored diligently to create a resonance within one's own being that will attract such insights about the charts of others.
Seeing into the depths of another person through astrology is a sacred responsibility. In my opinion, these insights will not flow into a person who does not understand that. Nor will these insights flow into someone who has not learned the nature of emptiness. I state this as one still working on all these things - not as one who has already attained.
