Ron's Universal Mirror

Ron: I'm sure this is an insight that many of you have had before, but it is one that I've been reminded of a lot recently. So, I thought I would pass this along. My own particular spiritual path teaches that the universe mirrors back to us who we are. Sometimes, that can be a very distasteful revelation when we have to deal with some pretty ugly images.
Along this vein, I have noticed that people tend to draw in reflections of the characteristics (positive and negative) that their own rising sign is known to typically produce. For example, in my case, as a Libra rising, we are known for trying to achieve a balance between one extreme and the other. Consequently, I have found that I tend to draw in extreme reactions. Relative to astrology, I have been told everything from, "You are one of the best astrologers in the world" all the way to the other end, "You are totally bankrupt of astrological skills and clueless." I rarely get middle of the road reactions. Peoples' reactions to me seem to reflect my own Libran dilemma to find balance between extremes.
This seems to be true of every rising sign. Look at what your rising sign is known for, and see if it is not true that people reflect both aspects of that sign back to you. I would be interested in constructive feedback on this to see if other astrologers have noticed anything similar.
Nick: I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Although Librans may internally be trying to achieve balance they often come across as the most fanatical. Hence a Libran is likely to draw polarized responses because he forces an assessment of the issue as he gets away from fence sitting .You are definitely a damn good astrologer .
Ron: "Damn good" is a good thing. Thanks. . . Yes, you've pretty much hit it on the head: fanatical is certainly another legitimate way to put it. But, fanaticism certainly is extreme; so I think we are on the same wavelength here.
Nick: I have one other observation. Consider someone with the Moon in Taurus. Then in that case their Moon (mind) operates in a happy environment which under the law of karma means in previous lives they gave happiness to others' minds. Thus when you encounter such people you feel very relaxed in their company. The reverse can often be true when the Moon is in Scorpio.
Ron: Another good point. But I would differ somewhat with you on that one. Oprah Winfrey has a debilitated Moon and seems to be very relaxed with others. Also, I'm not sure, but I've been told that Chakrapanni Ullal has a debilitated Moon (can anyone confirm?) and he seems to do well with others. Perhaps these are just anecdotal cases, but they are the ones that come to mind. Maybe your point would be proven correct out over a broader sampling of charts. I don't know.
Sandy: I most definitely agree with your point, Ron!!! I'm Pisces rising, and I'm constantly swimming upstream, like two fish on a mission, side by side, but at the same time in (at least) two opposite directions! I have one agenda in mind for myself, and my family has another...Always. I head one way, they pull me back into another direction. My head is most comfortable in the stars, and my family is constantly body slamming me back to earth with a reality check. I'm sensitive to all life, and my family kills bugs. I tell God what I think I "should" be doing - HE lets me know, in no uncertain terms, that He has something ''else" in mind. I reflect on this often... All in all though, I wouldn't have it any other way, as I am learning so much through this Piscean stream of consciousness...But I will admit, sometimes I feel like I'm drowning from exhaustion...but I keep swimming away... ;-)
Ron: Thanks, Sandy. A fish drowning - that's a good one [LOL]. You know, you almost sound like a Libran trying to find a happy compromise in the middle. But then, Pisces is the exaltation sign of Venus; so I wouldn't be surprised if you find many things in common with Librans.
Sharad: I am Libra rising also. People who know me are my most deepest friends and regard me as a very true person they can trust at any level, and love me deeply. But people whom I meet everyday, or even people who are not close to me often see me as an irritating person and basically don't like me. But as they get to know me better, their opinion changes from very bad to very good. I have one other characteristic: Going in detail about everything, and an almost perfectionist approach. It becomes worse when I expect the same perfection from others. Is this a Libra characteristic also?
Ron: Probably, a lot of astrologers will tell you that's a Virgo trait, but I DO think the traits you mentioned can be linked to Libra. Here's why:
Libra is ruled by Venus, which has been called the planet ruling clarity. So, many Librans demand absolute clarity and will go to enormous lengths to obtain it. That could be called perfectionism. So, it does annoy Librans when others seem to demonstrate a laisser-faire attitude toward things. I think this contributes to the Libran's stereotypical description as being "fanatical".
This also seems to contribute to our tendency to go overboard with detail in explaining anything. It's not that we think others are stupid; it's just that we assume they want the same level of clarity about things as we do.
I think that perhaps the balance for a Libran is found in demanding clarity as far as one's self is concerned, but accept that others tend to adopt a "Good enough for government work" mannerism.
Nick: In my own case I am a protoype Mercury and thus have clear Mercury qualities
(1) A tendency to not accept things on face value but put faith in one's own analysis
(2) Mutabilty an unwillingness to be pinned down ,uncertain loyalties and take on qualities by association
(3) Cunning using guile to achieve one's ends
All of which I think makes a person suspicious.
So if I understand Grimes' Universal Mirror theory correctly then when people encounter me they should be unusually or excessively suspicious . My experience is that this is definitely true.
