Donald Trump
The son of a self-made millionaire, Donald Trump continued in his father's footsteps, becoming one of the best known real estate magnates. He specializes in turning losing properties into profitable ones. At least, that's the image.
The reality is not as pristine. In 1989, he acquired Eastern Shuttle, which shortly afterward became the bankrupt Trump Shuttle. By 1990, his empire collapsed under $2 billion in bank debt.
But, the 90's provided fertile ground for recovery. This was the time when investors weren't thinking realistically. Trump, through the sale of junk bonds, followed by a couple of IPO's, was able to come out on top.
His investors weren't as lucky. At the time of the IPO, a share sold for over $30. Today, they're selling around $2 per share. It's unfortunate that the investors didn't know what the editor of SVB Investment knew.

In describing the Eastern Shuttle deal, "What we didn't realize at the time is that the last thing Trump ever brings to a project is money." And, in describing what Trump learned from his bankruptcy in the early 90's, "There is no question that Trump learned a lesson from that bankruptcy. Recall that old aphorism, 'When your sucker is played out, just find a new sucker.''

The Enigma
This chart is appropriate for it arises at a time when my mind is contemplating the disparity between inner and outer qualities. For example, fame is often totally unrelated to talent. Wealth is often disconnected from diligent effort on the part of either self or family. Honors are often given to those who engage in dishonorable practices. Benevolence is often attributed to the abusive. The list seems endless.
This chart is no different. Likability and respect seem to have so little to do with fair dealings with the "little guy." It comes at a time when I'm noticing how ruthless dealings are overlooked if people think they can get something of the famous person to rub off on them.
This energy is in the air now as people don't want to believe Michael Jackson could be a pedophile. After all, he's a superstar! Some people are even clinging to a faint hope that Scott Peterson didn't really murder his wife. After all, he's such a good looking guy! They're hoping Kobe Bryant really didn't rape that woman in his hotel room. After all, he's such a great basketball player!
Well, rooting for likable people really isn't anything new, and certainly isn't dependent on anything transitory. It has so little to do with the reasons people make up for themselves to feel justified in overlooking bad behavior, pretending it isn't so. The reasons we make up for ourselves are merely the justifications we need to satisfy our sense of fairness and to explain the inexplicable attraction we have to the person exhibiting abusive behavior.
This attraction is really dependent on the public persona, which, astrologically speaking, goes to each person's Moon placement. This is the enigma that we will focus on in this chart of the month. What causes people to continue to support and aid in the image building of a person who, in this case, has shown that Donald is only interested in making Donald richer?
I admit it. I like the guy. He's very personable, charming, charismatic, and exudes an aura of power. But, if I had the money, I would never invest in his ventures because the only sure thing is, Donald will get the final trump card.
Embracing the Image
One's public image is generally represented by the Moon. In Trump's case, the Moon is involved in a complex set of arrangements. First, it is debilitated, which indicates he is really a very private person and is not truly happy being in the public eye. Second, because the Moon is in Scorpio, it accounts for the aura of intensity that he has about him. He has a very intimidating look and presence that says, "No BS allowed here. Be real." I'm sure it's an energy that makes people feel uncomfortable around him, simply because of the intensity he exudes.
The situation would be significantly offset by the warm aspect of the Sun, were it not for the 100% conjunction of the South Node, Ketu, with the Moon. This just adds to the mystery of the man. A chart where both the Sun and Moon are veiled by the nodes is indeed interesting. It makes for a man who is hard to grasp. If you think about an eclipse, it hides the luminary, but also gives it an added dimension of interest to the public. People are such that they don't care about seeing something until they are told they can't. Just take notice of how many more people want to see the Moon and Sun when it's announced one of them will be eclipsed. Likewise, in a chart, the obscured nature of who this man really is makes people even more interested.
So, in Trump's case, it's not so much a support, but an intense interest in what makes this man who he is. If the public could ever put their finger on it, the interest would largely be gone. But, they will never be able to accomplish this. A factor for support is that both a powerful Rahu and Sun, from the house of friends, aspects his public persona through the Moon; thus creating great fascination.
The Art of Getting Other People's Money
Whenever a planet is aspected by the 8th lord, or by a planet residing in the 8th house, the person will gain through other people's money. In this case, Trump's 4th house lord, Venus, governing real estate, is conjoined with the 8th lord, Saturn. This clearly indicates that he will gain through real estate by using other people's money and investments. Another equally valid interpretation is where other people's money will be funneled. In this case, the 8th lord (other people's money) is funneled into his 4th lord (fixed assets, vehicles, real estate, etc.).
You can use this principle in any chart. See which planet the 8th lord, or planet residing in the 8th, is influencing. Then, see which significations are represented by the conjoined, or aspected, planet. Other people's money are likely to flow to the chart owner through those significations.
In an interesting comparison, it is worth noting that Bill Gates (b. Oct 28th 1955 at 10:00PM in Seattle, WA) also has Cancer rising. Both Donald and Bill have a conjunction of the 8th lord Saturn with the 4th lord Venus, within a 2 degree orb.
Summary
This chart has a lot of very interesting configurations. I try to approach charts, in these articles, in a way that is hopefully different than how most astrologers would view and explain the same phenomena. And, I try to limit my comments to just a couple interesting views.
In any chart, it is usually the case that a given trait, or event, can be explained at least three different ways. It is my purpose to try and do so in a way that is both thoughtful and provocative.
