Neptune
Last month, we covered the general influence of Pluto. This month, we'll step back in orbit and consider Neptune.
Neptune is a planet of dreams, imagination, illusions and delusions. Depending on its placement, its influence can bring the fulfillment of a dream, or the shattering of one. It can also bring false hope or an illusion that you have found what you want.
Neptune's Influence on Other Planets:
Neptune and Sun - Neptune serves to cloud one's personal identity, making it difficult to know who you really are. It stirs up emotions, and it is that stirring that creates the confusion. Because people tend to lose their sense of identity under this influence, they grasp at one or more of the strong emotions that have been kicked up to the surface, in a kind of "maybe this is who I am" desperate grasp for an identity that you can call you. No wonder this influence produces everything from drug addiction, to alcoholism, to mystical pursuits, to artistic expression. It is the emotions that have been stirred up, and they form the raw elements the person has to work with - the clay with which s/he can form an image.
Neptune and the Moon - Under this influence, you are likely to be given to fantasy as delusion is combined with emotion. You tend to let your heart lead, and it unfortunately will, more often than not, under this influence, lead you in the wrong direction. This is a time when you should not let your heart be your guide, but try to step back and think more objectively.
You tend to idealize women, seeing them in a light that is not realistic. You will be in for disappointment because you have set the women in your life up on a pedestal from which they must surely fall once this influence has passed. It is best, under this influence, to make no solid decisions.
Neptune and Mars - Combining the emotionality of Neptune with the aggressiveness of Mars can create a time in which impulsive actions are taken. If you are normally a very organized person who likes to plan things ahead of time, you are likely to find yourself foregoing the planning stage and doing things a lot more spontaneously.
On the negative side, if you naturally have a problem with overreacting or being angry, then this tendency will be exacerbated, and you will have to strive even harder to control your aggressions. If you are athletically inclined, you may believe yourself capable of greater feats than what you have properly prepared your body to handle or perform. Overall, this represents less restraint on action, and a delusional view of the outcome of those actions.
Neptune and Mercury - Mercury is the planet ruling proper discrimination and judgment. It is not difficult then to guess what happens when you add a dash of fantasy, wishful thinking, and delusion to the mix. In other words, don't trust the judgment of anyone who is under this influence as it will be far from objective, and will be more reflective of their own personal biases.
Mercury also rules speech and communications. You can expect that anyone under this influence who is relaying information to you has nicely embellished the truth or given a more optimistic view of things than reality would suggest to be the case.
Neptune and Jupiter - Jupiter is known for its relationship to philosophy, religion, charitable pursuits, kindness, and generosity. With Neptune's influence added in, one can adopt all sorts of belief systems based on fantasy and delusion, making it hard to find a spiritual path with which you feel at peace. You will tend to idealize religious figures, failing to see who they really are. Beware of falling under the influence of a false guru at this time.
When it comes to extending your generosity and charity to others, you must be a bit more discriminating now. You may find that you overextend yourself financially, or that you have misjudged the person/institution to whom you are contributing your time and services.
Neptune and Venus - In a nutshell, romantic idealism. This is not necessarily a bad thing. You can either find your ideal love under this influence, or it may only be a terrific time romantically for the time this transit lasts and then the rose-colored glasses come off and everything falls apart. Either way, if you can accept things for what they are, it can be a wonderful time.
Artistically though, you will be at your best. Your work will be much more full of imagination, originality, and creativity. You are likely to produce some of your best results at this time.
Neptune and Saturn - This is probably one of the better combinations. While Saturn is normally very reserved, traditional, hard working, and conservative, Neptune can offset some of this extremism. The result of these two forces can be a balance between optimism and pessimism, between hard work and play, between tradition and innovation. You might say, it produces a realistic idealist.
This is a great time to set goals for the short and long term. It's also a terrific time to assess any previous dreams and ambitions established for yourself.
