KP
Visuals

If you've ever heard of that old saying, "A picture
is worth a thousand words", then you'll understand why I'm going to
try and contribute in my own little way and provide this section called "KP
Visuals", which will include supplementary charts, tables and whatever else
I can think of to make things easier as I go along and hopefully make things
clearer to other KP beginners as well.
For those who want to start at the beginning, please refer
to my friend and colleague, Sandy Crowther's website, Jupiter's Web (www.jupitersweb.com),
who has provided a wealth of excellent KP information based mainly on the
teachings of Chandrakant R. Bhatt's books.
Also be sure to join our new Yahoo discussion group called
KP Stellar Research, owned by Sandy Crowther and moderated by me, Donna Quinn
and Ron Gaunt.
VISUAL ONE
The first visual chart I decided to make was a table of
Nakshatra signs, lords and sublords divided accordingly into Fire Signs, Earth
Signs, Air Signs and Water Signs. There are three signs for each of these
groupings.
FIRE group contains; Aries - Leo - Sagittarius
EARTH group contains; Taurus - Virgo - Capricorn
AIR group contains; Gemini - Libra - Aquarius
WATER group contains; Cancer - Scorpio - Pisces
Each one of these groups have been divided into their
natural elements or triplicities and have all those signs in common in that they
share the same nakshatra lords and sublords for each group.

VISUAL TWO
In this particular chart, I
wanted to have a visual of what it would be like for each and every
nakshatra as it was divided among the houses of the Vedic southern chart. Since
the vedic Southern chart consists of fixed signs, we know that the nakshatras
will always remain in their same positions thru out the 12 houses, no matter
what birth chart is being viewed.

VISUAL THREE
What are the major
differences between KP Stellar and Vedic Astrology?
-
KP astrology stresses
the importance of the nakshatras, otherwise known as constellations or stars
in order to narrow down events to precise moments in time.
-
There are 27
nakshatras,
every one of them is unequally divided up into 9 subdivisions. (click
on Jupiter's
Web - KP Star and Sublords )
-
Each sub varies
according to the planet ruling it following the laws of the Vimshottari Dasa
system.
-
KP Stellar uses its own
ayanamsa.
-
KP Stellar follows the Placidus
system of unequal houses, which is popular in Western astrology and also used here.
-
The planet in its dasa
gives results or the outcome according to its Starlord instead of the planet itself.
-
The planet's sub lord
becomes the deciding factor as to whether or not the event or the outcome becomes a benefic
one or a malefic one.
Below you can see an
illustration of each planetary division and its interaction:

VISUAL
FOUR How
are significators assigned to houses? There
is a definite 'totem pole' effect when it comes to
how KP places the strength of its significators in houses. The
placement at the bottom of the totem pole is the
very weakest in the group and the placement at the
very top takes preference over the others as far as
priority and strength. To
view this visual, click on this Totem
Pole effect and start from the bottom level in
order to follow the sequence logically. VISUAL
FIVE How
can we see marriage in this woman's chart? Although
there are many different ways to interpret different
events in a natal chart, this is an illustration of
how you can link up the particular houses that
you're looking for and try to find out what they
have in common. You do this by "connecting the
dots" and in this case focus on the marriage
houses 2-7-11. To

Analysis VISUAL
SIX How
do we analyze the chart of a drowning victim? Just
recently I bought 3 of Chandrakant R. Bhatt's books
and decided to illustrate various examples from his
books, combining my own formatting style with his
analysis examples. In
this particular chart, the victim, a 19-year old
male, had gone to a picnic with his fellow school
buddies and set up on this river bank. He wanted to
go into the water, but his friends all advised
him not to go into the river because it wasn't safe
for bathing. He jumped into the river anyway and
sadly, lost his life when he drowned. This young man was
born during a Venus period and thru the course of
his life had yet to run his Sun dasa, his Moon dasa
and finally his Mars dasa, which is the planet of
accidents and a very strong badhaka house and cuspal
lord for his 8th house. It was during the dasa
period of Mars -Saturn -Saturn
that the accident took place and he lost his life.
The transit date was August 2, 1973. On this date
the Cancer Sun was 16 degrees 20 min. in the star of
Saturn (the sub and antardasa ruler). Transit Saturn was in
Gemini at 6 degrees, 37 min and in the star of Mars
(the mahadasa ruler). Transit Moon was in Virgo and in the
sub of Saturn. Please
note that I have not included any degrees of planets
in order to simplify the process and keep the focus
on the way Bhatt's thought processes worked as he
went thru the analysis of the chart itself, although
if you want to follow along using the planetary
degrees, you can easily calculate your own chart and
do so from the birth data provided here. And for
those of you who might find the arrows too
confusing or annoying, you can simply follow the analysis from
the very first chart that has the birth data listed
in the center. I
have made my own formatted design in order to make
connecting the energy patterns in this analysis a
little clearer to understand. Each house that
contains a planet is listed in the following format
and order: Planet-
Star/Sub
(example: Ve-Me/Sa, meaning that the planet
Venus is in the star of Mercury and the sub of
Saturn). Above every house is a white header
that contains the House
Cusp Owner - House Cusp Star/ House cusp Sub
in this format and order. In this way, every
significator, house owner, star and sub lord can
easily be observed and followed thru out Bhatt's
analysis and you will be able to follow the arrows
and thus connect the energy patterns easier in order
to to see why this
young man lost his life at such an early age and in
the manner in which he died. To
view Visual Six, please click on Drowning
Victim. VISUAL
SEVEN How
do we find the basic significators in a chart ? In
order to judge the affairs or the matters indicated
by any house, we first need to find the
significators of that house. We do this by looking
for the occupant, the owner, a planet in the star of
the occupant and finally a planet in the star of the
owner of that house. Using the planets Mars and Moon
for examples in the following charts, you will see how
the idea works in order to link up the different
houses with the proper planets. To
view Visual Seven, please click on Significators. VISUAL
EIGHT Is
it possible to get a clear YES or NO answer from a
KP Prasna? In
an attempt to experiment with doing a KP prasna
chart in order to come up with a simple YES or NO
answer, I have created a little Excel worksheet that
will allow anyone to enter a series of up to 100
tests in order to complete this experiment. Many
times, we want to come up with a clear cut YES or NO
answer to a query without having to go thru a whole
analysis of a chart and link up the proper
significator houses, aspects, retrogrades,
etc... Since the 11th house deals with issues
of fullfillment, dreams coming true and so forth, it
is the perfect house to go to for a YES answer. So
it will be the only house that we deal with for this
test. It will involve coin tossing as was suggested
on the list by one of our moderators, Ron Gaunt,
whose wonderful idea this originally was. He started
his own experiment which is similar to mine but has
more factors to consider and is a little but more
complex. I, on the other hand, wanted to experiment
separately and see if I could keep it even simpler
and still come up with the correct answer as many
times as possible. So for anyone who's interested in
trying this experiment as well, let's begin: 1)
Concentrate on this question which will be the only
question for each one of these 100 tests. "Will
my next coin toss turn up HEADS?" 2)
When you feel you are ready, pick a number
from 1-249 and enter it in a KP Horary chart. (You
can also try using a random generator to select your
number, but please keep these tests separate so as
not to confuse yourself). Save your charts in a
separate folder. 3)
Once you have your chart, go to the 11th house cusp
and select the planets for its SIGN LORD, STAR LORD,
SUB LORD and SUB SUB Lord. Let's say for example
that you find Saturn as the planet ruling the 11th
house cusp SIGN LORD. Locate the sign in which
Saturn resides in the Prasna chart. This is the sign
that you will enter in the worksheet from the drop
down list. Do the same procedure for the other 3
planets and enter them into the worksheet as well
under their proper headings. 4)
You will see that once you enter a sign in the
worksheet, the colored column to the right of it
will automatically register that sign as
Negative or Positive. Once you're done entering the
signs of the ruling planets, count up the negative
and positive results from each one of the colored
columns in that test line. There are only four for
each test. 5)
Select the majority of negative or positive results
from those four colored columns and enter it in the
drop down list in the MAJORITY RESULT column. 6)
Now toss the coin and note whether it is HEADS or
TAILS. Enter it in the worksheet. 7)
Enter the final results in the last column with
either TRUE, FALSE or DO OVER (meaning a tie - 2
negatives, 2 positives). Count the DO OVER as a
test! Don't disregard it. 8)
You can look at the COMMENTS at the top of the
column, indicated by a little RED arrow or triangle
at the upper right hand corner of the title column.
This will explain things in more detail if you feel
you need to read further. To

Coin Toss Experiment VISUAL
NINE What
is a PDP and how can it be calculated in charts? The
PDP stands for "Progressed Dasa Point".
This is a term coined by Neville Lang on one of the
old discussion lists moderated at that time by
Andrew Lynn and has now been added to Neville's new
program 'Astracadabra' as an extra feature.
Andrew brought up this unique method at that time
and shared it with us on his list. The progressed
Dasa Point is a way to progress either the Moon, the
Ascendant or the Sun according to the Vimshottari
dasa from which it is based, to any point in time.
It uses the Sub Sub Sub lord tables and therefore
can be a very powerful tool to be used in
rectification techniques in order to pinpoint the
exact minute of birthtime if you choose to do so. It
can also be used in synastry where you compare two
charts together. Many times, you will find that the
position of the PDP will very closely link up with
the Ascendant, the angles of the chart or one of the
personal planets of a person who has become very
close to you or special in some way in your life or
someone you will be involved with in some special
way. Lastly it can be used to pinpoint important
events in a person's life such as marriage or
falling in love with someone. As a personal research
project, it might be fun to check out your PDP's
with those special events and people in your life to
see how closely it matches up. Rangarajan
Krishnamoorty, another list member, has also created
a software program called KPAstro that gives the
PDP's for all the planets, although he doesn't refer
to it specifically as PDP's in his program. He calls
it rather a 'Progressed Dasa Chart', but it is based
on the same principal and is a very excellent
program. The
following visual is an Excel Worksheet that has been
put together using both Sandy Crowther's KP Star and
Sub Lord Tables and Ron Day's SUB SUB SUB lord
tables. Thanks guys! I combined the two of them,
reformatted Ron's worksheet to make it more user
friendly and put in a set of instructions that will
enable you to find your own PDP and experiment
for yourself. To

TEN An
analysis of KPBC-15 (blind chart) of a female using
a different approach Usually
we do blind charts on the list and try to arrive at
the answer using any or all of the tools in our own
particular work boxes. In this blind chart, I wanted
to use a process of KP elimination to arrive at my
answer and perhaps develop some sort of methodology
that can be approached in a similar manner when
trying to weed out multiple choice answers. In this
case, when I first looked at the chart, I
instinctively knew the correct answer, but still
wanted to eliminate the other choices first, so this
is how I went about it. This method worked for this
particular blind chart, but since it is the first
time I'm using it, it has yet to be tested in other
cases. To

ELEVEN Profections - How to calculate them manually (Although
Profections have nothing at all to do with the KP
system, Sandy has introduced them to the world of KP
thru her research and studies and has found them to
be quite a useful tool to use no matter what system
of astrology you prefer. So I will include them here
as well, in spite of the fact that Profections
have their origins in Classical and Medieval
astrology.) Annual
Profections are a method of progressing the chart at
a rate of 30 degrees per year and can be broken down
even further into monthly and daily profections ,
as follows: 30
degrees = 1 year 2
degrees and 30 min = 1 month 1
degree = every 12 days 35
min = 1 week 5
min = 1 day There
are software programs available that can calculate
profections, but for those people that don't have
access to this option, you can do it manually
to get a pretty close idea of what the annual,
monthly and daily profections will be for any year. I
will use my chart as an example. I was born on March
12, 1949. I've just turned 57 years old. (Annual
profections always start on a person's first
birthday and change to the next
sign on each following birthday.) I want to see
what the annual profection will be for my ascendant for
the date of April 15, 2006. 1.
I will take my age, 57 and divide it by 12. This
equals 4.75. 2.
I will discard the whole number (4) and keep only
the remainder (75), past the decimal point. 3.
I will multiply the remainder, .75 by 12. This gives
me 9. (Remember to include the decimal point or you
will come up with 900 instead of 9). 4.
This means that everything in my natal chart has now
moved up
9 signs for my 57th year from each and every planet
and cusp. Always count the first
sign as 0, then 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and finally
9, (which is the same thing as counting 10 full
houses). Since we're focusing on my natal Aquarius
ascendant, this puts my newly profected ascendant on the
midheaven of my chart in the sign of Scorpio. 5.
To narrow it down even further, I look at the degree
of my ascendant which is 5 AQU 57. I figure out how
much time has passed so far since my last birthday
and the transit date of April 15, 2006. It is one month and 3 days. 6.
Therefore I can write it out as follows:
57 years old = 9 signs = SCORPIO
Natal Asc = 5 degrees 57 minutes +
One month = 2 degrees 30 minutes +
3 days
= 0
degrees 15 minutes
TOTAL = 7 degrees 102
minutes = 8 degrees 42 minutes 7.
My Annual Profected Ascendant is now at 8 degrees
SCORPIO 42 minutes, which should come pretty
close to the software calculation. 8.
My Profected Ascendant Lord is now Mars, which will
be the most important planet governing my 57th year. Note:
Profections represent the unfolding of issues as
they occur during the year in question. Therefore if
you're concerned about marriage, then focus on
profected Venus for example. Or, if you want to
focus on financial or health issues, then profect
the Part of Fortune or the ascendant. Whatever
planets happen to be in the profected sign in
question shows you how the events will play
themselves out during that progressed period of
time. If there are no planets in the sign of the
profection, then look at the lord of the profected
sign to see where its placed, as well as transits to
that lord. Also check the conditions of these rulers
in the Solar Return chart as well as the natal to
get an overall picture of how the year will unfold.
I prefer to relocate the Solar Return chart. Some
astrologers differ on this, but to each his own. There
is also a concept in Profections that although is a
medieval one is called "Handings Over",
where you look at only the ASC, MC, SUN, MOON and
PART OF FORTUNE. (though you can use other points as
well). Then you check to see if the newly profected
sign has any natal planets in it. For example, say a
person has Moon and Jupiter in the midheaven natally
in the sign of Libra. Now the profected MC comes
along that year and conjuncts it. So the MC
would have "handed over" the Moon and
Jupiter, thus highlighting those planets for the
year and bringing them out front and center stage,
so to speak. VISUAL
TWELVE Annual
Profections - How to view them at a glance In
order to see annual profections at a glance, I've
created what I call a Profection Wheel in Flash
format. (see link
below). This comes in very handy when you
don't have the proper software to calculate the
profections properly and want to know where your profected ascendant is located for any specific
year. Although
this technique gives you a simple way of looking at
profections, if you decide to use transit dates
along with the Profection Circle, always double
check manually as well, because the more time that
elapses from the birthdate in any year to the
transit date later on in that year, could possibly
push the profected ascendant or planet into the next
sign. For
example, my daughter, Jamie just turned 21 years old
on Feb 11, 2006. Her natal ascendant is 27 Taurus
57. As you can see, it falls very close to the
end degrees of this sign. If we just look at the
Profection Wheel alone, we would see that by lining
up the inner wheel to the Taurus ascendant, her
profected ascendant becomes Aquarius, on the 10th
cusp of her chart for the exact date of her birthday
and about 1 month afterwards, before it enters into
the next sign. For
instance, let's profect her ascendant to the
transit date of April 15, 2006. The difference from
her last birthday to this transit date now becomes 2
months and 4 days. Remember that transit months and
days always translate into degrees and minutes. The
more time goes by, the more degrees and minutes get
tacked onto the profected degrees of the ascendant
for that year. This may or may not be enough to push
the profected ascendant into the next sign. We
do the following calculations: 1.
Divide her age, 21 by 12 = 1.75 2.
Take the remainder .75 and multiply it by 12 to
equal 9 signs 3.
Therefore:
21 years old = 9 signs = AQUARIUS (from her natal
Taurus Ascendant starting point)
Natal Asc = 27 degrees 57 minutes +
2 months = 5 degrees 0
minutes +
4 days = 0
degrees 20 minutes
Subtotal = 32 degrees 77
minutes
-60 minutes
33 degrees 17 minutes
-30 degrees 00 minutes
TOTAL =
3 degrees 17
minutes
into the next sign of Pisces Once
you see the sub total going over 30 degrees, you
know you're already into the next sign past the
profected sign of Aquarius for the transit date of
April 15th, 2006. If we had wanted the profection
sign on Feb 11, 2006, the anniversary of her
birthday, then she would've still been at her
profected ascendant of 27 AQU 57, since no
time had elapsed at that point. When you know
the ascendant degree and aren't interested in
transiting anything forward for that year, the
circle works perfectly. So,
if
you have an Aries ascendant, then you're good to go.
All you need to do is look up whatever age you are
and see where it falls in the circle chart. For instance,
if you've just turned 21 years old and have an Aries
ascendant, your Annual Profected Ascendant will fall
in the 10th house of profession for that year in
Capricorn. If you're 66 years old, your Annual
Profected ascendant will go to the 7th house of
Libra and your focus might be dealing with close
personal relationships during that year of your life
for instance. But
what happens when your ascendant is anything
other than Aries? Then what do you do? As an example, I just turned
57 on March 12, 2006. My natal ascendant is
AQUARIUS. I rotate the center wheel so that the
Aquarius sign matches up to the 0 starting point on the ascendant
line. I then look up my age, 57 and note that it
lies at the 10th house cusp in Scorpio. Therefore my
focus for this year will be on 10th house issues. You
can now download the new Flash version of my
Profection Wheel, in order to make this process
quite easy. Please click on this link Profection
Wheel and follow these intructions: 1.
When you first open up the window, you will see the
complete wheel. if you prefer tiny print, then by
all means continue to use it in this mode. You will
see that your mouse icon is in its usual POINTER
mode. When it's in this mode, you will not be able
to drag the wheel, but you will be able to rotate
the center part. For
those who prefer to see it up closer, go to VIEW at
the top of the screen and after you click on it,
select ZOOM IN. 2.
Once you ZOOM IN, you will notice that you can now physically drag the wheel around the screen by
holding down your left mouse button and dragging it
in any direction to properly position the wheel to your
satisfaction. Also notice that the mouse icon on the
screen will look like a HAND when it's in the DRAG
mode. 3.
In the center of the wheel you will notice a light
blue area where the SIGNS are located. As you glide
your mouse over any SIGN symbol, you will now
notice that the HAND will change to a pointer
finger. Once this happens, you can then rotate the
light blue wheel around the center and place your
ascendant at whatever sign you prefer. It's quite
simple to use and you can download it to your
desktop as a handy utility feature and click on it
whenever you need to check on a profection for a
certain age and ascendant, so experiment and have
fun with it.
